May 16, 2009 Star Fun 2009 is Northern Star Council’s Scouting Super Event at Valleyfair. The May 16th event is a celebration of the fun and excitement of Scouting. All Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Girl Scouts and their moms, dads, sisters, and brothers are invited!

Star Fun 2009 will be a day of dynamic thrill rides, family rides, and children’s rides, as well as special Scouting features including exhibits, displays, special events, ceremonies, and a patch. Overnight camping is available Friday and Saturday nights for Boy Scout Troops and Venturer Crews.

The Pack overnighter will be Saturday & Sunday at the Lake Rebecca group camp (the same place it was last year).  More details will be posted soon.  Sign up deadline was last Friday.  Please RSVP to your den leader ASAP!

Wednesday, May 13th, is the next Cub Scout Leader Meeting.  The meeting is at 7:00 pm at the Rockford Fire Department.  All members of the Pack Committee should attend.  Any interested leader or parent is welcome.  We are always looking for new people to help lighten the workload.

Scouting for Food bags were handed out at the Pack meeting.  If you need some and did not get any please contact your den leader.  Go around your neighborhood and distribute the bags.  Return to your neighbor’s homes and collect the bags on Saturday April 25th.  Bring bags of food to the Rockford Fire Department at 12:30-1:00.  All food collected will be donated to the Hanover Food Shelf.

10:00 parade starts.

Parade marches to the river, there will be music by the high school band.  Parade continues to the cemetery for the ceremony.

10:45 ceremony is over and everyone is dismissed.

The Rockford Lions also have a pork chop dinner afterwards at Riverside Park.  The Stork House also has an ice cream social at the Stork House.

The next pack meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 20th at 7pm at Rockford Elementary School.  We will be holding our very own Scout Olympics!

Join us for a Pack swim day!  Saturday, March 14th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Monticello Community Center; Hot Dogs and chips will be available in the Warehouse room. Come ready for a good time!

Come for the food, come for the fellowship, come wish our Webelo Cubs all the best as they bridge to Boy Scouts!  The Blue/Gold banquet is Sunday, February 22nd starting at 1:00 PM at Our Father’s Lutheran Church.  Food will be provided, no need to bring anything.  The Blue/Gold banquet replaces our regular monthly Pack meeting and is for all ranks, not just the Webelos.  In addition to the banquet and bridging ceremony, awards will be presented for accomplishments since December.  Don’t miss it!!

Mark your calendars for Sunday, January 25^th. Registration and weigh-in start at 12:00 Noon at the Rockford Middle School gym with the racing starting at 1:00 PM.

Rules:

• Cars must be from the parts contained in the Pinewood Derby Kits.
• Cars must weigh no more than 5 ounces
• Cars must have a black bottom so the timer can see the car
• Wheels cannot be modified
• No liquid lubricants are allowed…graphite only
• No modifications are permitted once the cars are registered

Again this year….the open class will be divided into 2 groups; Siblings & Adults. Separate prizes will be awarded for the top Sibling and top Adult winners only. Cars for the open class are available from your Den Leader at a cost of $4.00.

Get ready for movie night…the next Pack meeting is movie night featuring the cub scout movie “Down and Derby”.  Come for the movie, come for the popcorn, come for the lemonade….or come just to learn how to build the winning car! 

NOTE:  The meeting will start early at 6:30 PM at the Rockford Elementary Commons.
