We have changed the date and time for the May pack meeting. It was on the schedule for the 14th. It has been moved to Monday the 21st. We will be having our game time from 7pm-7:30pm to accommodate the boys in baseball. Then we will have our graduation ceremony from 7:30 to 8pm. I hope to see you all there.

Please join us on Saturday May 12th at Our Father’s Lutheran Church to help clean up our town! This is a great opportunity to help your environment and to instill in your son a sense of duty to his community. This will also count towards advancement at almost any age.

We will be meeting at noon for free pizza and a short instructional video, then onward to helping to beautify Hwy 55. This will take about an hour to an hour and a half, depending on how many volunteers we get. Please let me know if you are planning on helping out and how many you will be bringing so I can plan for pizza.

Last night at the pack meeting I talked about scouting for food. For those of you that weren’t there let me take a minute to explain about Scouting for Food. Scouting for food is a food drive put on through the BSA. We do it every April in coordination with our local food shelf. Food shelves are an important part of a community these days. And many people who haven’t used them previously are turning to the help they provide. Our community needs help. And this is one way in which we give back. As the Cub Scout Promise says “The Cub Scout gives goodwill.”

We will have our drop off on Sunday the 22nd from 2-3pm at the Riverworks Foodshelf. If you don’t know where it is, it’s right next to the library in Rockford.

The process is something like this:

• Sometime this week the scout goes through his neighborhood and hangs a door hanger on each door. These hangers have a $1 coupon for Golden Plump chicken. These hangers also talk about Scouting for Food and tells everyone that the pickup will be on Saturday.
• On Saturday the scout goes door to door collecting non-perishable food. Knocking on doors and talking to people really works well.
• On Sunday between 2-3pm take the food you collected to the Riverworks foodshelf for weighing and dropping off.
• It’s that simple.
• Remember, the foodshelf will also take donations, do if someone doesn’t have any food to give, see if they’re will to make a small donation. In fact, the food shelf can make a dollar go farther than you or I.

I have extra hangers for anyone that didn’t get them or would like more!

Simply download it, fill it out, print it off, and have John or myself sign it and we’ll get it sent in to the council! No questions asked!

Here is the link to register your son for our district day camp. There will be BB guns, archery, slingshots and so much more! This is a 2 day event taking place on June 21st and 22nd (Thursday and Friday). Make sure you sign up for the Buffalo location, as that is at Beebe Lake.

I wanted to update you all on the Pinewood Derby. Due to scheduling conflicts the date has been changed to Sunday the 22nd. Registration will start at 12:00pm. Racing will start at 1:30pm. I advise you to arrive early to register! If you are worried about showing up early and missing lunch we will have a concession stand.
